Recycling

Mountains of plastic waste

Less than ten percent of all plastic ever produced has been recycled. Many plastic products are designed for single use and made from multi-layered materials, which makes them particularly difficult to recycle. If at all, plastic gets downcycled, but mostly it ends up in landfills or incinerators. Recycling, whether mechanical or chemical, is not a solution to the plastic crisis. The only answer is to reduce plastic production.
